NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL in RMCC

The NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL for live communication and experience marketing took place for the first time on 21.11.2023 at RMCC Wiesbaden. The marketing festival was aimed exclusively at corporate marketing and event budget decision-makers.

„How to create brand-experiences with impact“

Under this motto, the NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL highlighted the areas of live communication and event marketing. The focus of the business festival was primarily on the following topics:

  • sustainability
  • event design
  • digitalization

Christiane Seelgen, Authorized signatory for digitalization at RMCC

"NEXTLIVE's idea of creating its own event with a focus on knowledge transfer convinced us right from the start. Business festivals like the NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL are formats that bring topics to life, promote exchange and make products more tangible. Participants today are more selective in their choice of events and want to be inspired and emotionalized. The relevance of brand experiences has increased dramatically. We are therefore particularly proud to be working with a partner like NEXTLIVE, who lives and breathes live communication and experience marketing.

Hans Schriever, Founder of the NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL for live communication

"NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL has set itself the goal of becoming a sustainable community platform for marketing and event budget decision-makers over the next few years. Our starting point is this year's festival. And in this context, we are particularly pleased that we were able to win RheinMain CongressCenter Wiesbaden as a location partner for our annual event. Because here we are in one of the most sustainable buildings in the Federal Republic of Germany. We were also able to win 2bdifferent as a strategic sustainability partner for NEXTLIVE."

„Live-Events are new Social Media“

The event was aimed at marketing and event specialists as well as event planners from industry, agencies, associations and public institutions. Employees from corporate departments such as Human Resources, Sales, Marketing, Customer Relation Management and Brand Experience, who are involved in event planning in the context of their areas of activity, also came to Wiesbaden. Experts discussed the selected topics.

The program consisted of specialist presentations by invited speakers as well as more individual workshops in expert breakouts. Thanks to the networking character and the informal atmosphere of the event, participants were able to talk to people who may have similar topics on their agenda in other sectors. This gave everyone the opportunity to make valuable contacts as well as gain information.

The RMCC as a slytish festival location

The NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL has transformed the Halle Süd of the RMCC (opens in a new tab) into a cozy, hip feel-good and meeting space - in keeping with the industrial style of the hall with its stainless steel-clad walls and light terrazzo floor.

One of the partition walls was used to make the south hall slightly smaller and thus more "homely": This very design concept was stringently pursued through various "living" lounges furnished with dark leather and velvet sofas, side tables, indirect lighting elements and carpets. The floor-to-ceiling windows at the front provided the festival space in the area of these expert breakout lounges with daylight, while the screen and stage inside the hall were darkened. Lushly planted steel elements that structured the space, large olive trees, atmospheric and indirect lighting, bar tables and chairs made of dark wood completed the modern, homely character of the festival space.

A large catering island formed the central point of the space - a steel structure decorated with hanging plants and atmospheric lighting, open on all sides.

The highlight: three inflatable "igloo tents", so-called domes, provided unique subspaces within the festival space for the masterclasses. These inflatable domes had an enormous aura and could be illuminated in any desired color using LEDs.

Master-Keynotes and experten breakouts

Expert breakout with conclusion: "Live events are the new social media" by VOK DAMS

In a lively expert breakout session, Niklas Stommel from the renowned event and live marketing agency VOK DAMS summarized once again why live events are needed more than one-sided social media to interactively share content and messages with a community:

Expert breakout session
  • Facebook has been replaced by Instagram and TikTok - but: there is no more interaction here, "social" in "social media" is lost
    • from many-to-many to one-to-many (followers only consume, there is no interaction)
    • Focus on short video content, because users now only have an attention span of 0.4 seconds, mere entertainment, authenticity is lost

  • Live events are taking the place where "social media" once stood: interactive, social, communicative, authentic, emotional
    • Increasing value and demand for live events
    • One of the most important reasons: Meeting other people and socializing, activating the campfire gene that is in all of us
  • Events as emotional lighthouse projects and therefore important components of marketing
  • Tip: Create digital background noise with live events as highlights
    • Live event as the central focus of every marketing campaign that radiates to all channels
    • Live events as content providers

After all, that's ultimately what drives us all to organize events - regardless of the size and context: meeting people, making contacts, exchanging ideas, taking away input.

We are looking forward to the second NEXTLIVE.FESTIVAL in 2024 - again in Wiesbaden, of course again at the RMCC!
