What is this about and what does the SDG “Good Health and Well-Being” mean for the event industry?
The overriding goal is to conserve and restore the peoples’ health. Climate change in particular can have direct and indirect effects on health. For the event sector, this means that the health and safety of guests and employees should have top priority. How do we implement this?
Our answer from Wiesbaden - from the RMCC
✓ Reduction of CO2 emissions in the RMCC through:
- Electricity from renewable energies
- 1200 m² photovoltaic system for generating basic power
- Low heating consumption thanks to insulation and multiply glazed windows
- District heating and heating with a wastewater heat pump
- Energy-saving lighting technology (e.g. LED)
- Energy-optimised air-conditioning and heating technology
- Continuous monitoring of consumption and technically optimal control of heat and cooling
- Sustainable catering by the responsible partner in the RMCC
✓ Daylight in almost all conference rooms
✓ Use of environmentally friendly organic cleaning agents thus ensuring that hazardous substances do not enter the environment in as far as possible
✓ Barrier-free accessibility in the RMCC through:
- Parking spaces for persons with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 550 cm) in the underground carpark, approx. 10 m from the entrance
- The entrance as well as all elevated areas and fixtures used by guests are accessible without stairs or via lift
- The lift car is at least 110 cm x 200 cm
- Corridors and doors are at least 90 cm wide
- The mobile info-counter is 89 cm high at the lowest point
- WCs for persons with disabilities
✓ First-aid stations at events from 400 persons, or in a permanently installed emergency room depending on the event concept
✓ Permanently installed benches as chill-out area in the RMCC
