What is this about and what does the SDG "Quality Education" mean for the event industry?
For the event sector, this means that event organisers and service providers contribute to achieving this goal by providing further education programmes and workshops, integrating interesting facts into their event (i.e. breathing life into sustainability information at the event, providing information in brochures, infographics or apps), and entering into partnerships with educational institutions. For example, guided tours of locations highlighting sustainability aspects can be offered to prospective event organisers as part of such partnerships. Furthermore, they should deploy educational resources in an inclusive manner to ensure broad accessibility. In addition, stakeholders in the event industry can provide information on how sustainable events can be held in the form of check lists, guidelines, articles and the like. How do we implement this?
✓ Top-quality further education:
- The WICM Sales Team has been providing top-quality further education for several years, for example, via the inhouse campus format. In this context, the “sustainability” topic plays a significant role, but free webinars on sector-relevant topics are also offered regularly, for example healthcare events.
- Convention Wiesbaden Campus
The Convention Wiesbaden Campus was initiated during the 2020 pandemic and has since established itself as a fixed event. The goal is to exclusively provide customers and partners knowledge and networking opportunities free of charge and to discuss sector-relevant topics and trends in detail with different experts.

An inhouse campus has taken place on the topic of sustainability. The online recordings can be invoked and viewed free and without restrictions. - Convention Wiesbaden Webinars
The Convention Wiesbaden Campus further education format is enhanced by a series of webinars. The goal is to inform customers and partners about Wiesbaden as a convention location, event venues, implementation options for formats, best practice examples and sector-relevant topics.
The webinars are free, designed to be entertaining, and are dedicated to one special topic respectively. These are made available as video recordings after the webinar have been completed.
✓ Best practice events
-
Events with new formats or special (sustainable) orientation are presented in a best practice case. Event organisers can let themselves be inspired by this and learn directly from professionals with the help of already implemented events.
✓ Convention Wiesbaden Stories
- The format is used to support events and interview the responsible planners behind the event. For example, you can find out how the major allergy convention in the RMCC in Wiesbaden was implemented by the sustainability consultant Clemens Arnold from 2bdifferent.
✓ Convention Wiesbaden Quarterly:
-
In our quarterly magazine (available as newsletter), we regularly cover sustainable topics at our event venues and interesting news from event organisers.

✓ Check lists
- Our check list for the sustainable execution of events offers event organisers the opportunity to consider various aspects throughout the planning process and to examine the sustainable implementation of their own event. In different categories such as arrival, purchasing, catering, water consumption, waste disposal and much more, we ask specific questions that make sustainable planning easier. In this way, a contribution is made to professional sustainable event planning among other things.
- Do the test – how sustainable is your event?

✓ Guided tours
- We offer regular guided tours for students from various third-level institutions in Wiesbaden and the region. These students are from varied courses of study and are specially interested in the sustainable construction and operation of an event venue, i.e. the RMCC. To date, we have had students studying “real estate management”, “sustainable corporate management”, “business ethics” as well as “sustainable tourism, hotel and mobility management” (from Hochschule Fresenius respectively) as our guests.
