Product in June: Quince secco

Once a month, the Tourist Information presents a special product from the region - in June, a Quince secco from the apple wine tavern "Apfelweinstube im Himmelreich".

The aromatic fruit flavor with a special note, made from 100% quince must.

The Himmelreich estate, located in the district of the same name, has been owned by the Lommatzsch family since the 1930s. It was expanded by Ernst and Babette Lommatzsch into a full-time agricultural business with arable farming, livestock breeding and fruit growing.

In the 80's the son Ernst Lommatzsch and his wife Doris took over the estate and mainly operated fruit cultivation. Special emphasis is put on the planting and care of old Kelter varieties such as Rheinischer Bohnapfel, Ontario and Kaiser Wilhelm.

Since then, Himmelreicher cider has been produced there and marketed directly from the farm.

In May 1999 Doris and Ernst Lommatzsch opened the first "Apfelwein-Straußwirtschaft" in Wiesbaden and the surrounding area. In 2002, this was transformed into the "Apfelweinstube im Himmelreich" as an estate tavern and is open from mid-March to the end of October.

The offer of own apple wine products covers in the meantime the already several times DLG-awarded Apfelsecco with quince, the Quittensecco fermented from pure quince must, the apple Vino Premium fermented from sort-pure must of the apple sort "Rheinischer Bohnapfel", the red apple wine Himmelreicher Apfelblut and naturally cloudy apple juice. In September and October, the freshly pressed apple cider is very popular.

The aromatic fruit flavor with a special note, made from 100% quince must, can be bought at the price of 9,00 Euro at the Tourist Information.
