Preview: Reinhard Ernst Museum

In 2023, a museum presenting abstract art is scheduled to open right in the heart of Wiesbaden.

Reinhard Ernst Museum

The Reinhard Ernst Museum will be dedicated to showing works from the extensive art collection gathered by businessman Reinhard Ernst. His collection focuses on postwar German and European abstract art, Japanese abstract art as well as American Abstract Expressionism.

Construction work for the museum is currently in full swing. Designed by Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, the building is being erected in the immediate vicinity of Museum Wiesbaden. When open, the house will present temporary exhibitions, host public events as well as educate children on art. Apart from a museum shop, the Reinhard Ernst Museum will feature a café with outdoor seating overlooking Wilhelmstraße. Located at the very centre of Wiesbaden, the new museum will complete the cultural axis that includes within easy walking distance the Murnau Filmtheater cinema, Schlachthof cultural centre, RheinMain CongressCenter, the Hessian State Museum, Nassauischer Kunstverein centre for contemporary art as well as the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine house of literature and the Hessian State Theatre.
