Apart from Goethe, Wagner and Dostojewsky, Alexej von Jawlensky, the Russian painter, had close ties to the state capital of Hesse. Museum Wiesbaden‘s anniversary exhibition, "Everything! 100 Years of Jawlensky in Wiesbaden", running from 17 September 2021, features 111 works created by the artist. Other museums such as the sam – Stadtmuseum am Markt city museum, the Frauenmuseum, or Women‘s Museum, and the Harlekinäum are not be missed either.
Wiesbaden‘s theatre scene is held in high esteem. The Hessian State Theatre offers a fantastic programme for all guests at the big and the small house, at the studio, and at Wartburg. For 125 years, the International May Theatre Festival has regularly welcomed visitors from Germany and abroad. A great number of cabarets and fringe theatres are popular places to meet for all those interested in culture. The scene has its permanent place in Wiesbaden because every venue is as extraordinary as the programme offered.
